Methods of Printing

One of the turning points in modern day communicating, printing changed the modern world.

Letterpress

Used extensively in the 19th Century and still used today for several specialist printing and print related applications.

This process involves ink being applied to a raised image, which is then pressed against the paper to form an image.

Litho Offset Developed in the later half of the 19th century and currently the most common printing method used for mass printing requirements, such as newspapers, magazines and mass produced paperback books.
Digital Printing

With the advent of computer technology, the rise of digital printing has been swift, adding a new dimension to printing. This method is used extensively for "transactional" printing, such as the printing of telephone, water and other bills that are printed in large quantities for mailing purposes.

Digital Printing is also becoming very popular for self publishing and shorter run book printing.
